The Cafe

The Taylor Yard Park and the adjacent Rio de Los Angeles park will need a food service option.

We are planning for an iconic cafe next to or as part of the Welcome Pavilion.

It should have mostly outside, shaded seating on a patio.

One idea is to create the look and feel of an old gas station that could serve pedestrians and cars with a tasty menu. To that end, a historic Texaco gas station has been acquired, disassembled and stored, awaiting its rebirth as a cafe. Cost to build it out is estimated at $500/sq ft . $1m.

Another option could be a shade-covered outdoor cafe built onto the rear side of the Welcome Pavilion.
